PRESIDENT Mugabe left for Tanzania this morning (Saturday) to attend the China-Africa Young Leaders Forum, which kicks off later today.

The African Union Chair was seen off at Harare International Airport by Vice-Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Phelekezela Mphoko, Defence Minister Sydney Sekeramayi, Economic Planning Minister Simon Khaya Moyo, Harare Provincial Affairs Minister Miriam Chikukwa and Service Chiefs.

The meeting will discuss issues affecting young African and Chinese leaders in the wake of growing global capitalism.

It is also geared towards attracting investment and giving African entrepreneurs exposure.

About 150 delegates from 40 African countries – including Tanzania’s President Jakaya Kikwete – are expected to attend.

China’s Ambassador to Tanzania Dr Lu Youqing was quoted saying the forum is a significant tool in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the Asian county and Africa.

Dr Youqing hoped the consensus reached at the forum would spur even closer co-operation.
