Unmasking Kudakwashe Munetsi, who weds Sharon Macheso at Pakare Paye Arts Centre in Norton 11 August tomorrow, is no easy thing to do.
But of course, at tomorrow’s party, there will be no protection for Munetsi, the 27-year-old who stole the heart of the daughter of one of Zimbabwe’s most-loved musicians.
Not much is known about the young man who is said to be gainfully employed in Cape Town, South Africa. So we settled for Sharon’s version of her hunk.
“Kuda is a very charming guy, full of energy, caring and humble,” she says. “We are from the same church but we did not meet (there) – we are both Roman Catholic.
“He is very understanding, I guess because I’m understanding too. We met a long time ago in Chitungwiza when we were both very young; I was doing my ‘O’ Level and he was doing his ‘A’ Level. He went away first to study abroad and the same happened to me, but he kept his faith in our love and so did I.
“All the time we were away from each other we kept our communication channels very open to avoid any suspicions. He would travel to whichever part of the world I would be, just to spend time with me.
“Sometimes he would make me travel to certain places like Dubai to meet him. But above all he kept his promise, came to my parents and paid lobola. Tomorrow we are getting married and I am confident that this is someone I can trust,” says Sharon.
She tells us that Kuda studied in the United States, stayed there for a while and then moved to Cape Town, South Africa.
“There is one thing I do not know though right now, and that is whether we are going to move to Cape Town or he will come with me to China for my studies and work there.”
